In addition, registered charities are exempt from income tax on their charitable activities and generally do not pay Goods and Services Tax (GST) or Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) on most supplies and services, allowing them to dedicate more resources to their mission.

All Federal Non-Profit Organizations must register with the Provincial Government where the head office of your organization is located. Your Federal non-profit organization is not complete without this registration. Proof of an extra-provincial registration is often required for opening bank accounts and for lease agreements. We have included this extra-provincial registration as it is mandatory for all Federal Non-Profit Organizations.

Agent for service: is a contact person for the corporation who resides in Alberta. Government or other agencies may contact the agent for service for official purposes and must be available to respond on behalf of the corporation. Usually a director can be an agent of service.
